IoT device management framework for smart home scenarios
The paradigm of the Internet of Things (IoT) requires pervasive connectivity to billions of heterogeneous devices. In recent time, rapid growth of IoT devices in smart home environment envisioned a wide range of novel services and applications. However, due to the inherent heterogeneity, home environment is becoming complex making device management extremely difficult. This paper proposes a lightweight IoT device management framework for smart home services. The framework can be deployed at home gateways and consumer smart devices. A prototype implementation and performance evaluation results are also presented
Facial Feature Extraction Using a 4D Stereo Camera System
Facial feature recognition has received much attention among the researchers in computer vision. This paper presents a new approach for facial feature extraction. The work can be broadly classified into two stages, face acquisition and feature extraction. Face acquisition is done by a 4D stereo camera system from Dimensional Imaging and the data is available in ‘obj’ files generated by the camera system. The second stage illustrates extraction of important facial features. The algorithm developed for this purpose is inspired from the natural biological shape and structure of human face. The accuracy of identifying the facial points has been shown using simulation results. The algorithm is able to identify the tip of the nose, the point where nose meets the forehead, and near corners of both the eyes from the faces acquired by the camera system
Fuzzy based prediction schema framework for IoT based indoor environmental monitoring
In recent times, rapid introduction of the Internet of Things (IoT) services in smart environment domain has happened. This has introduced heterogeneous device and data types that lack proper mechanism for joint execution of tasks from an application perspective. In this paper, we propose an integrated indoor environmental monitoring system implemented with a novel IoT framework. It is enabled via fuzzy-based rule schema to resolve the heterogeneity of environmental data in smart home environment. The novel aspect of the framework is that it is developed with a modular repository together with decision-making modules. Our experiments prove this approach to be a viable IoT solution for smart home indoor environment
